The entire hotel complex is very beautiful and with the casino building close by, probably one of the most enjoyable locations I have visited. Of course there is no ''Casino Royale'' in Karlovy Vary, but the hotel has its own casino and the building seen behind Bond houses the 'Pupp Casino Club' and 'Becher's Bar', all part of the hotel.

Perhaps the best known of Karlovy Vary's spas, however, is the wonderful Grandhotel Pupp, built in 1781 and famous for its starring role in the James Bond movie, Casino Royale. Also worth a visit is the Neo-Gothic Spa III, built in 1867 on the banks of the River Teplá and notable as a venue for cultural events and concerts.

The Casino Royale Hotel “Splendide” is in reality the Grandhotel Pupp in Eastern Czech city Karlovy Vary – not to be confused with a real Hotel Splendid, that opened four years after the release of Casino Royale in Montenegrian city Bečići. Last time I came to Karlovy Vary two years ago, this building, used as the casino in the James Bond film "Casino Royale" was closed. Everything I read about it online still suggested it was closed. So I was very pleased when I walked by to take an outside picture of it and saw "Open" written outside.
